I have a mv-8000 and I'm not excited about the new 8800. Never got the pad and quantize feel of the 8000. I guess it's my fault, because I am to use to the pads and quantize feel on my mpc2000 and 4000...

I agree! It looks quite awesome to me too, one thing i always missed about the mpc family is the ability to record bass & guitars properly and it seems like the MV is a better option to do that. Nowdays i sample keys, bass and guitar into my mpc because i like working without cubase as much as possible...

And the fact that it has a "real" mixer with eq and sends and dope effects is making me drewl. I have to test this machine somehow and see if it might suite me better than an mpc. I want to work with a standalone unit as much as possible and use my pc only for the final tracking of my instrumentals, never with the creative parts.

There's really nothin new on the 8800 than on the 8000 except for more internal sounds and a color screen. So basically you should have been drooling all over the 8000 too. I think its got lots of features and has great Roland synth engine but always leaves me wanting on the sound of samples. MPC sounds and sequences better if you ask me. And I've used both extensively.

Prophacee, can you use the mouse to move sequences in the arrange window (on the 8000) when the VGA is connected?

In the same way you would with any PC/MAC based DAW?

I have had the 2000xl for 5 or 6 years, i've had the MV for 2 years....
from my experience on both of them I can accomplish the same things...
albeit, I'm Gospel, R&B, & Jazz... I sample more one shots than anything...
the learning curve is much longer on the MV8000 but once you learn it, I hate to say it, but it blows circles around the MPC as far as its ability is concerened.... now, about this PPQ garbage.. thats exactly what it is, garbage. I remember when I started sequencing on the MPC after using this DOS software called texture for sequencing... I didn't think that the MPC was as tight as texture's sequecer.. but after I got used to it I rocked it, like i rock everything else... that being said, give the MV a shot and get used to it B4 u knock it... once u get passed its learning curve you will love it.

P.S. what I hate about the MV is the slow loading times and only two MIDI outs and one Midi in
