500, 1000, or 2000xl?

my first mpc... cant decide..

reasons i dont wanna get the..

500.. not enough stuff?

1000.. made for just drums? pad problems?

2000xl... too expencive new, and i dont trust used stuff

look at these things and decide whats the most important to you. i mean a new XL and a new 1000 are priced almost the same.

the mpc1k has a lot more feature than the mpc2kxl loaded with the JJ os.
but if you only feel big pads, the 2kxl is the way to go.

if smaller pads are ok for you, the mpc1k is probably the best buy.

if your looking for portability/battery powered then the 500 is you only solution.

on the downside section here is a little updated list (with jj os) :

1. No SCSI port (had to happen at some point though and not necessarily a bad thing)
2. No way to hook up an external storage device like CDROM or Zip
3. Using 2000XL programs will keep most pad parameters, but filter settings, Mode, and Voice Overlap are lost
4. Programs made on the 1000 will NOT load into an MPC2000XL (sounds will)
5. No tilting screen
6. Can only have 6 outs, not 10 like the XL.
7. The pads just don't feel as good

an mpc 1k along an mpd24 can be a deadly combo : features of the 1K , pads feeling of the mpd (really nice) for the price of mpc2kxl (new).

get an old 2kxl ebay, craigslist etc don't pay more than 800 for a stock 2kxl (unless it has 8 out or other extras) put a card reader in it and you will have the same mpc as the more expensive blue mpc 2000mcd xl. I wonder are there still retards and morons paying the 1300 -1700$ retail list price for a brand new blue box lol

I have a 1000, and half of the pads are dead. I'm thinking about getting the new mpd with the knobs and faders to hook up to it. Someday I'll get the 1000's pads fixed, but for now this will be good. I can also use the mpd with my laptop when I travel, etc...

I'm probably going to purchase the 2000xl studio plus I found. It has the 8 outs, and the ram upgraded. Hopefully it has the effects board in it, but I'll be hooking this thing up either way.

Get the 2500. If I waited thats what I would have gotten. Its just as good as the 1000, better?, and it has the big pads and the tilting screen. Pay the extra dough. I saw them for 1500 and less used. 2000 brand new, maybe 1800

get a 1000...its constantly being updated with the jj os and the capabilities of this machine are crazy..the new pads for the black unit are supposed to be better and...new pads are currently being created by a fellow forum member

If you can't afford the 2500, get the 1000 and get a mpd to go with it. This will insure the pads stay brand new. The black one might be better than the one I have too, but get something with BIG pads.
