mpc500 And mpc2500

greets everyone- i've been following the posts / debates / loves / hates on the 500 and 2500 pages in particular recently. i'm diving in and getting both machines (both arriving shortly). i'm a former 2000 Classic head- looking forward to participating here. bless, p

I would like a 2500...

I am not jealous or envious, I am happy for you...

this is an update on the two machines- having spent more time with both: the 500 is deceptively fun to make beats on- what a few people have said regarding limitations boosting creativity i find to be true. i even like maneuvering on that machine despite the extra steps.
the 2500: physically feels like a Major luxury in terms of being able to lean into it and really interact. one negative and maybe the only so far: the data wheel. i'm coming from the 2000classic and why in the World akai went from that to this is beyond me. the classic wheel was one to fall in love with where the 2500 is.. stiff and cheap feeling. this is one area the 500 has the 2500 fully beat in my opinion (the 500 wheel is cheap but fluid and less awkward feeling)
the pads on the 2500 are the best i've ever felt: my 2000 double triggered badly, the 500 are really insensitive in comparison.
the full volume output of the 2500 gets it another point.
workflow on the 2500 is Far faster as to be expected.
both machines holding their place so far..

I agree with all of that. The 2500 is my favorite drum machine I've ever touched. I dont own a 500 though, but my 1000 was similar. The pads were crappy, and the data wheel was excellent. The 2500 ROCKS! I wanna buy another one just for the hell of it.

Is there any way VST or Forat can replace the data wheel with a better one? Can I do it myself? Anyone know?

i was wondering the same exact thing- just emailed vst about this asking if it's even fathomable to have the 2000classic wheel put on as a mod (i'd be surprised if so) and if not, how about the lower 500 wheel which i prefer over the tall 2500 one.

That would probably take a motherboard mod AND an OS mod together, very costly I'm going to guess.
