Ive had the 1000 for 12 months and i was recently playing with my freinds 2kXL and i loved the feel of it.
I just wana hear from people who have used both machines and which they preferred in terms of work flow and ease of use.

I know with the new jj os the 1000 has a lot more features, but why is it only ever reccomended as a starting out machine and the 2000XL or the 2500 is reccomended for the more advanced user

i had a 1k for aout a year and half and traded out of the xl. I couldnt be happier but thats just me. There are alot of things i was used to on the 1k that was a little faster and eaiser as far as work flow. You just gotta learn the workflow of the xl. I would strongly recommend getting a xl with the card reader and memory already installed. good luck

I have traded my 1k (the blue red version) for a 2kxl and I felt really happy for some time, but I realized there are certain things that I am missin (mono programs, filters, effects and a lot of others) which forced me to come back to the 1k again. I actually made some money on this trading which is a positive thing too.

the 1k was my first MP, then I had the 3K and 2KXL. I said I ain't never going back, but all these features on the JJ OS look really good. I'm actually tempting to cop an used 1K just to **** with the new OS.

Going from a 1k to 2kxl is like a 2kxl person going to a sp12/1200. Doesn't make any sense. Too much missing technology for a drop like that.

The 1k is getting an official pad fix, under the akai label, and antonym has made some new pads for the 1k that are much softer than the original pads and will give you a wider range of velocity.
this combined with an unlocked JJ OS would IMO make the 1k superior to the 2kxl with the exception of two less assignable outs and not having the same build quality as the 2kxl.

the ONLY thing i would trade my JJ-1k for would have to be a 2500 w/ an unlocked JJ os, but only because of the 4 midi outs and the 2 extra assignable outs.

just my two cents

Actually, stock standard out the box, 1k is superior to stock standard 2kxl.

People have forgotten that fact.
