portability

hello

I have a quick question
I'm deciding to get 1000 or 500 for portable use.
I have 2500 in my studio.
When I'm working outside I need the hardware to produce.
and put the files in to 2500 when I get back to studio and edit more.

of course most people would go with 1000, but I want to know the advantage or disadvantage for 1000 when compared with 500.

Well personally I went along with the 1000 but you can reuse the PGM, WAV and SEQ files on your 2500 with both machines

The 500 will always win on portability because of the battery power option and its size. Great for long road trips.

Apart from that I would have to say the 1000 wins hands down for everything thing else in terms of the music product capability and ease or use. Also there is the foot switch and direct output options for live applications.

To get the specs though just check a music site and compare the two machines

software wise, the 2500 can do everything the 1000 can do, and vice versa
this is not true of the 500, therefor your portability is going to be limited to one way: 500 to 2500, as opposed to completely compatible projects.

pound for pound (literally) the 1000 is cheaper but offers you many times the control/potential

You gotta realistically think of how much you will actually be away from a plugin for any amount of time. It seems like there is just no way anyone needs to make a beat on the go that badly, and the 1k would be fine despite its lack of battery power.
