3000 VS 2000

So, anyone have any of these?
Which do YOU prefer and WHY?
If you had to choose 1, which would it be?

The 3000 is a lot more expensive than the 2000 i've noticed.

and what is it with the swing/groove/quantize?
I seen a lot of people saying how amazing it is but i cant hear a difference between the 1000 or 2000 f.eks.

Is there any evidence of difference in sound?
If so, please point me in the direction of some sounds/examples

if u got money, then mpc3k is the way to go, cause its a classic and time tested machine. 3k sounds warmer and fuller, while the 2k sounds thin.

if u dont have money, then buy 2k and s3000 rack, which uses the same sampling engine. that way u get a poweful sequencer (2k) and mpc3k's sound (s3000).

as far as sequncers goes, i think that the whole mpc fam got really nice ones and 3k's sequencer isnt better then 2k's. they're equal. they only differ in sound and functionality.

There's a function on the 2000 where you got a screen (multitrack?) you can silence certain pads while the sequence is playing (i cant remember what its called ), do you know if this is on the 3000 also? Makes it more fun for live use.

I think your speaking of the Track Mute. It's not on the 3000 to my knowledge.

dont know since i dont use 3k. if u need track muting, its another reason to get 2k/s3000 combo.

I have had 3 MPC3000's and it's a dope machine but it's what you put into it is what's gonna make a difference. The machine can't make your beats sound better don't forget. Chopping is gonna be the same on the 3000 as on the 2000 except for you can't see what you are truncating it's all by numbers & your ears. Also you gonna be saving to Floppies & Zips but you can find Card Readers still so that's a bonus cause Zips suck floppies are more reliable then Zips IMO. The 3000 can only use 1 Program for your drums and samples wear as the 2000/XL can have 4 Programs.

damn "earth travelers" is my fav PUTS records but on the real you can do all of that on your 2000. There's nothing special within the 3000 working its magic. Put in quality...hear quality its that simple. You give up track mutes.waveform editing and go down to 1 program for only an additional $500-1000+/-....sounds like a good deal to me.

Save that money and get your self a nice preamp/soundcard, a synth or even upgrade to an XL with MCD. Gear lust can set you back sometimes without you even realizing it until you become more knowledgable in production down the road.

someone said it does have track mute etc.. i see what you're saying but im a geek and want to push buttons on diff machines. .

The 2000 is only 1 program as well. The 2000XL is 4 programs

ye, i dont have the xl, i have the classic so theres nothing going missing there. Im more worried about the track/pad mutem thing

Yeah but unless you recording live into Pro Tools what does it matter that's all stuff that can be done in Pro Tools?

because i dont use protools (i have no need for it)
and it saves making 10000 different sequences for when you're using it live
