MV8800 vs MPC5000 >>> Who wins?

Roland and Akai battle each other releasing groove machines and workstations. mc909, mc808, mpc1000, mpc500, mv8000, mpc2500 mpc4000.. mv8800 and now mpc5000....

They keep making gear while true lovers of the drums stick on mpc60 and mpc3000 which were created by a man how knew what to throw in there...

Im afraid that youre right. I guess i was just excited about the new Roger Linn machine. Thats why i put 8800 mv 5000 >>> the winner is LinnDrum II

60 and 3k were designed by Linn so I guess thats why i posted this here...

i had a mv8000 for a few months, but sold it...
mv88k should be the same expect the colour lcd and standart analog/digi outs...

didnt like the mv cause of time drifting, mini screen, oldschool soundengine (roland s700) and some other reasons...

but you can check mv-nations.com for more infos....

the mpc5k looks like a coppied mv88k, so i think i will not go for it...

Well, I think it's a problem to judge gear that's not released. The 8800 lokks kinda nice, but everytime I tried it - and I did this several times - it felt like a damn old school Cubase in a box!

Maybe your question should have been "Which one is the best replacement for a 60 or 3000?" Then I would say the LinnDrum although we don't now yet about it's exact sampling and sequencing capabilities....and since Roger and Dave always emphasize it's gonna be a drum machine and not an MPC.....

I think the 5k might be a nice product...I'm gonna have a closer look at it upon release!

The MPC 2500 is the best replacement for the MPC 3000 and the MPC 5000 builds upon it further.

The Linn Drum II is not an MPC and is simply a drum machine according to Roger Linn.

I dont know about the timing issue, as I dont quantize alot. but when I do quantize its done loosely... MY experience using the quantizing on the Motif, Sonar, and MV playing the same riffs on each with the same quantize settings... the MV moved some of my notes to some weird spots.... now, I'm know herbie hancock, but I'm a decent player, and I always pratice with a metronome. so I blame the MV8000

no one because machines cant fight...........yet





but i will be checking out the linnedrum II when it comes out
