MV

Yo just wondering if people who OWN a Mv could comment on if its a myth about the swing not being as good as the MPC?
I hear it has shuffle any good?
I think it may be a myth that the mv is shit compared to the MPC in terms of swing. I am a MPC owner but am open minded and would not hate on another platform.

no swing problems it even has better quantize options so can make it swing harder then a mpc

i think it looks gud man! I mean I like to keep open minded, the MPC is great dont get me wrong but if peeps can make a sick beat on an atari and a s950 i guess anythings possible

The MV has more parameters for tweaking the shuffle and affecting the quantize.

You have options to make the midi quantize real tight and robotic or real loose as well.

Plus it has a higher resolution sequencer. But I've heard you can also adjust the sequencer's resolution down to 96tpqn (like most MPC's). I never got to try that when I owned the MV for the short period that I had it.

Likewise, if you want the exact swing like the MPC it might take a little more work since you have more parameters to play with.

If you are switching from the MPC to the MV then you will probably notice a definite difference when sequencing and its something that you will have to adjust to (could be a good thing could be a bad thing).

I went back to the MPC because I just preferred the low-res sequencer and I couldn't stand how big the MV was (its freakin huge!) The MV also has a buncha manuals that you will want to read through to know all the little secrets and features. I didn't have much patience for reading through all the material.

In my opinion, its a damn fine machine but its really more suited for someone who wants a DAW but doesn't own a computer. Its meant to be an all-in-one machine.

yeah, well I have a baby on the way so not sure if the studio is to stay but if I got a MV i could just use that.
I like the size man would be a real treat i used a mpc 2000 and a 60 since day one so it would have nice features
I say its the beat maker not the beat box that makes the beat.

IMO... if you do have the money go for the MV8800. It's got a little bit more options than the 8000 but it is a serious workhorse.
The VGA/mouse connection does wonders for looking at your tracks on a big screen.
Also... it's a big step going from the MPC to an MV but there are PDF pamphlets on the rolandwebsite to help with the transition.

Actually the MV's sequencer drop all the way down to 80 PPQN and up to 480.
