MPC1000 vs MPC 4000?

I was thinking about claiming my warranty on my MPC 4000 or just sending it back(only had it 2 days) because so far I have done nothing but get mad. The first thing is my CD ROM on my MPC will not read shit. Wav, Data, I've tried them all and it reads nothing. Just says Empty Drive. So I take akai's advice and try an check for a loose data cable on the CD ROM. Well after unscrewing about 20 screws I find out the CD ROM is screwed down to a bracket and won't pull out. It's impossible to get a screwdriver down in there unless you broke the whole machine down so I was thinking screw it my friend has a 1000 and has never had a problem. I'm also an MPC newbie so maybe it would be better to start there huh? Thanks guys. Sorry for bitching I just am really frustrated. I spent $2500 and I have done nothing but cuss my machine...

Did you make sure that the .wav files were formatted correctly? 16 bit 44.100

Yeah man, it came with a Sound Library CD all in wav format 16bit and couldn't read it. After 4-5 hours the HD quit reading as well. I'm sending it back and getting a 5k. I'm ignoring all the hate about this new product, I'm excited about it. The features are like combining 2500 and a 4k to me

I dunno man, It seems pretty costly for being a "jack of all trades" thing... I would just cop a 2500 and an Awesome synth. No hate at all. Just my .02
