MPC vs MPD (or other pad controller)

Hey everyone. I'm considering purchasing either an mpc (probably 500 or 1000) or a pad controller like the mpd24 or korg padkontrol. I'm mostly into producing house and already have reason and live on my computer. I was also hoping to control my dvs with it. Could anyone give me some advice? Thanks.

just ask yourself this

do you need the ability to sample and sequence in a machine?

if so
500 or 1000

if not mpd (its only a controller)
