MPC 1000 sound as good as mpc 2500?

i have the blue MPC 1k and it's sample quality doesn't sound that great. it handles kicks and low end okay, but hats and snares come out sounding thin and brittle.

do i have a lemon MPC or do the bigger MPC sound better?
