Is the 5000 better than the 2500? with the jjos?

to Whoever owns a 5000 or has experience with one...

Is it better than the 2500? AND is it better then the 2500 with the jjos

What new features make it better? or worse? or the same as the 2500?

What are the goods and bads of the workflow? let me know from your personal use

I dont want to hear it has more qlinks or whatever, tell me something i dont know, tell me all about your 5000 experience, and give me a little 2500 vs 5000 comparison info of your own if you have used both machines

Is it true that you can't tune a whole program at once on the 5000? wtf is that about, are they going to fix that? i thought akai was the king of samplers and drum machines

I think you gotta tune the sample you are gonna use before you chop and make a new program.

Being the king of samplers and drum machines or not doesn't depent on one feature.
It's about sound quality and workflow. Having an MPC doesn't mean a fat tracks starts to come out of ur monitors the moment you turn on the MPC. It's not complete compaired to DAW's, so u have to be a lil bit more creative then working with software.

Anyway, a few big differences between the 2500 and 5000 is that the 5000 has a an anlogue synth, option to record 8 tracks plus a bigger screen. For the OS, everything improved. Depents on how YOU work wether this improved OS will also improve UR workflow. Go out and try to get as much information as possible, and maybe even test the damn thing.

Many features of the jj os are implemented on the 5000 but not all

Some really need to be in : real time streching, program edit .....

But the 5000 is very powerfull & the workflow is really fast !

The synth & arp are a great addition !

fast workflow = NOT having to change pad parameters one at a time. like the 500, 2500, and 1000, the 5000 os has no global program edit. if you chop a sample in to 32 pieces and want to detune them -3 semitones in program mode, you have to do it individually for each sample.

this is not a fast process. this limitation does not force you to be more creative.

so i guess you cant tune a whole program on the 5k, so i guess the workflow is terrible like the original 2.5k os

well said... it sucks, but hey, it would take like a minute to change 64 pads worth of samples... if you ask me, it's no big deal. a minute to get what you want? pshh, way too big of an issue on these boards than it needs to be... thats me tho

The 5K is far superior to the 2.5K even with the JJ OS. The additional improvements are well documented. But as it was written earlier, there isn't a global program editing function on the 5K like the 2.5K...which the 2.5K didn't have when it was released. My best guess is that there is much more to come with the 5K. So if it doesn't provide you functions that you need now..perhaps they will be added in the future.
