Do You Have To Know The Tempo Of Sample In Order To TimeStre

For a while ive just been chopping up my samples but i now ive found something i want to loop. What steps do i take in order to timestretch and make a loop on jj os1. Much apreaciated.

i have read the manual but i am asking how do you find the original tempo it wont work right if the tempo isnt right, right ?

well you could cut at the beginning and the end trigger at the start of the sequence adjust tempo until you hear it all play without overlap or gap

hmm good idea so do i jus slice the sample up in 4 or 8 bars play em out the way the original sample is then when i find the tempo patch phrase it, sorry if that sounds ridicoulous im just sayin what i know.

yes? i guess so. i dont normally use sampled phrases. you asked how to tell the tempo of a sample.

Need to play around with the slicing parameters before you patch phrase. Also in timestretch there is an option to auto matically detect the tempo, though you need to properly loop the phrase first, just loop 1 bar, ie 4 quarter notes, and press auto. If you have access to rex waves then you can import these as well as the midi file, then you can play your section at any tempo, much better than a loop

Here is a big tip don't loop when you truncate on a MPC use Mono and let play till the end. Alot of times you will truncate wrong cause you won't hear the full end of the sample when you use the loop function.
