Hello everybody!

I'm just wondering if it's possible to record volume changes of a PGM or a track with JJ OS 2XL?

For example:
I want to create a swelling Brass-Sound of a looped sample (and i don't want to do it with a long attack-time on the sample...).

I couldn't find "Volume" (in earlier verions it was possible to controll Pan and Volume in Realtime) in the Q-link sliders settings neither in the Step Editor...

Thanks for your help!!

In the FAQ of the JJ OS it says:

[MIXER/QLINK]
PAN/LEVEL problem.
If the bug in which mixer automation does not operate is corrected,
operation of Q-LINK will become strenge.
It became clear that mixer automation and Q-LINK were incompatible as a result of investigation.
Therefore, The bug of mixer automation does not correct.

Maybe this is the reason why the feature was removed :(

Is there any way to record volume changes beside this?!
Thanks for you help!

don't know what bug JJ is talking about since mixer automation & the q-links work side by side in os 2 with no problems at all. not only that, but the q-links are twice as powerful in os 2.

really? what are the differences? i swiched to os2 today to look for differences, but i couldn't find any, so i swiched back to 2xl in the end...

how does mixer automation work in os2? (i didn't find a way to apply volume or panning to the sliders)

thanks for the info!

P.S. I wrote to JJ about the "missing" automation-feature in 2xl and he replied:

LEVEL and PAN are due to be added to Q-LINK in the future.
Therefore, per track, it becomes possible.
It does not work per pad.

Thank you.

sounds good, doesn't it? :)

well that's good. i just hope it doesn't mess up other stuff for ME now that i've "moved on" from sliders-to-internal-sound-parameters

i'll still be using mix automation via midi cc + daw (since you can use external controllers to control midi ccs - you can't use them to control qlinks)

in depth disscussion here: http://www.mpc-forums.com/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=107060

MODE + PAD 4 -> RECORD MIX CHANGES: YES

now, just hit overdub & tweak the sliders. level and pan changes will be recorded into the sequence.

it's nice he's adding it in, but it will still be crippled in 2xl because of the way JJ changed the q-links. in 2xl you can only have ONE type of q-link tweak active at a time, so if you use the q-link to tweak the level or the pan, it will wipe out any other tweaks you have previously made (filter, tune, sample start, etc...).

in os 2, you can have 2 types of q-link active simultaneously & recorded into the sequence. you can also assign the q-link to effect the entire track or just 1 pad. you can even go into GRID EDIT and edit your REALTIME qlink tweaks (copy, paste, delete, etc..). this capability was removed in 2xl and is one of the main reasons i stopped using the os.
