Loop stretch

im kinda new with the mpc, so my skills are low leveled...
I've got a few questions which i hope they'll be answered

- I've sampled a loop, but now the loop doesn't fit on my drums i've recorded already
how can i stretch the loop securely, so it will fit on the drumloop ? (so it will fit perfect on the bars)
- How can i change the pitch on a way the lenth of the sample remains the same?
- if y'all peoples make a beat.... and you first kick in the sample and later on the drums, do you kick in the sample/chops on a barlength or dont y'all take that in cosideration?

also i've recorded a couple of loops, and chopped them up, and tryed to make a nice sound of it, but many loops ive chopped didnt fit in on the drums, can i modify them on a way the will fit, or is it just my bad choice of samples or wrong way of chopping them up

But alright, here we go:

- i usually chop it up and arrange it so it fits. If you just want that loop you can either pitch it up or down till the length fits or timestretch it. With timestretching its best to know the tempo of the original loop The mpc helps you with that, it´s somewhere in trim mode -> edit-> timestretch

- thats called pitch shift, basically pitching up or down combined with a timestretch. Trim ->edit-> pitch shift

Chop to small slices, every hit/transient/note gets his own chop. Then you are flexible enough to make everything fit.

I agree with you guys 100%. Although at times chopping all hit points within a sample can be tedious it is rewarding because (A) it gives you the option to tweak the samples dynamics artificially (B) if you've got timing you will always make it fit to any beat (C) gives you the option to render the sample unrecognizable if you are creative enough. The classics never get lost they just become a little to bright to see sometimes.

Related to this and something I've been wondering for a while but not yet looked into.

Is there a way to tell the MPC to always play a sample a certain length, say 4 bars (or 16 beats etc)?

Although you can chop up breaks and make them fit a tempo chopping vocals (or pads etc) is a lot harder. Sometimes you might want a vocal loop to always fit over a 4 or 8 bar loop. Then if you are doing a live set where the tempo is changing you can't just get the sample right to fit and use it and the length of your bars are changing.

I would live with it doing it by simply pitching up/down but timestretching, to keep the pitch the same, would be a bonus.
