MPC1000 questions recording quality and note lasting

Hi, I got the MPC 1000 with JJOS2 and I also have an M-audio profire 610 audio/midi interface with 24bit/192 khz sound quality. I don't use samples just midi plugins. What is the audio input recording quality of the MPC1000? Im guessing it's like 24 bit / 96 khz?

I like recording audio on my mpc, it is quick, but I don't want to loose even a tiny bit of sound quality. What do you think is better recording quality, on mpc or on Giga Studio 3? I researched but I don't think I found out what I wanted.

Second question. How can I make a note last like at least a second when I hit the pad? I dont want to always have to hold my pad. It is easy for samples but for midi...

The 1k is 16 bit @ 44.1. Therefore in order to maintain the signal you will have to have your interface set at the same bit rate/sample rate

Not too sure where you were going with this but the audio will change slightly each time you do a conversion. So if you want everything to remain the same you would need to keep the audio chain in SPDIF connections the whole way thru. Audio should be the same between the giga and the MPC if you use digital connections.

use spdif, but don't sweat the bit reduction to 16 44100, it sounds crispy. i can always tell the difference between a bass sample played from 24 bit vst and one that i record onto my mpc, i prefer the high frequency icicles

Somebody told me this,

Windows outputs audio at 44.1kHz. All media players that route audio through Windows have the audio resampled to 44.1 kHz.

Please help me understand this.... Does this mean that there is no way I can use my card to it's full capability ?

If everything in windows is 44.1khz I might as well use the mpc because it is more convenient to record.

I just don't see how the quality goes down when you use the mpc SPDIF instead of pc.

yo thats only true if hes going thru digital. if your tracking using any of the unbalanced outputs of the mpc into your interface you can track at the highest sample rate your interface can offer because its an ANALOG signal. conversion happens before the analog outputs of the mpc and analog signals have no sample rate.

not to clear on the question but i think i might get what u mean....

if you plan to do everything in the box with the mpc including vocal work when you have 24/bit 192 quality and a daw you'd be downgrading your sound indefinitely and making things really hard on yourself. but 24/bit 96k isn't all its cracked up to be. track at 24-bit/48000, and only convert back down to 16bit/44100 at final mixdown to cd. cds can only play tracks at 16-bit/44100 so eventually you have to convert back down. but my advice is to use the mpc for your instrumental/dj work and your daw for tracking if of course that is what you mean in your question. and this is all based on my experience in the studio and opinion... and yes you'll have to hold the pad.
