Saving...

Ok, before somebody asks me if i tried to look this up... i did i didnt find anything, my question is when you save the entire memory arnt you resaving and doubling all the files that u used to make the project? If this is correct is there a better way to save that wouldn't do this to save on space?

No all songs and sequences are replaced and you have the option to replace the same samples. Alt least you do with jj os1.

Just create and name a new folder, and save the Program (with samples) as well as the Sequence. At least that's what I do, and I'm not eating up my 1ks memory like a muh-fuh.

yeah, make anew folder every time and just delete the old one.

Also, if you want to save space make sure you "purge" before you save.

Does it save more space though than saving to the same folder and replacing the samples that are used?

I find that by saving just the program and sequence in a newly created folder, everything you've been doing is saved for you. Like, if you've chopped up a sample into 16 pieces and time stretch a few of them just to get things how you want it, you might be left with more than 25 samples when it comes to saving.

If you save what you've got in the song's program, then only what you are using is kept.

But I'm always recording a sample into the MPC, working on it straight away, and either saving at the end of my session, or just switching the MPC off to disgard what I don't like.

If you record some samples into a "samples" or "ideas" folder to be worked on another time, always go back and clear out what you've just come back to use.....

Yeah that makes sense. I haven't started sampling with it yet; trying to source some ram. I've been using samples i already had and creating projects with them, plus i sequence vsts as well so i just save everything together. I'm new to the mpc so i'm playing it safe for now. Once i get the ram i can start sampling my own stuff into the mpc and then it will make more sense to keep programs and sequences together that i can reuse in other projects and it would make sense to keep them organised.
