So I got the pad upgrade and was using it on JJ OS 3.08 and I had to bang the shyt out of them for it to register. I messed with pad sensitivty options and all that good stuff but it still sucked. Then I installed the latest akai os and the pads are fine, no more having to bang them.

I was using JJ OS 4.99 on my old mpc (that didn't have the pad upgrades) and would like to upgrade my new one to that OS but how is the pad sensitiviy with the pad upgrade? Do you still have to bang them shyts?

did you turn the sensitivity level all the way up to 25 for both and you get a pretty solid feel.. not quite the feel of an mpc2000 but its a bit more expressive than the previous pads.

edit:
the pad sensitivity i'm experiencing with the latest akai os is fine. but i like jjos a lot more. is the pad sensitivity with the pad upgrade in jjos 4.99 comparable to this or is it as bad as 3.08?

i don't remember what kind of calibration software there is in the free jjos, but i am pretty solid on the fact that you've just got the calibration wrong

there are more calibration options in jjos1 and 2 and 2xl than there are in the akai os or the free jjos, so no, it wouldn't be the same once you get your settings straightened out

yeah sorry i wish i could remember what was there - it's probably the same calibration that the OG os had.

i'm pretty sure that there were dudes using the free os who have the pad upgrade out there.

if not, at least i'm positive that 4.99i has the calibration software that'll get you where you need to be.

if i remember correctly, 3.08 is not compatible with the pad upgrade. same thing goes with a bunch of the early 4.XX versions. remember when the pad upgrade first came out... didn't JJ come out with an OS update just to be compatible with the new pads (same thing akai did)? it's more than just messing with the pad sensitivity. there was something fundamental that had to be changed in the code and you had to upgrade if you wanted to use the new pads.

it's funny we still get a lot of OS 3.08-related questions. man, that OS is in the stone ages compared to what we got now. if i was JJ i would seriously pull that 3.08 version off the site. let people dowload the latest 4.xx and try it out for free - if they want to save then you got to pay for it. that's fair. no more free lunch and no more questions about ancient code.
