YO!! tap tempo!!

i don't know how to use the 'tap tempo' function on my mpc. when i hit it while i listen to the song the tempo is different than it is in fact(i know it because the tempo shown on the mpc is much faster than the original one i am sure!!) i don't know how to use it to measure the true tempo of the track!! please help!!!

just keep tappin the tempo and to get close ...then you got fine tune........
try chopin up your sample into small pieces ....like 16 or 32 for 4 bars then tempos arnt ever really an issue...

But the tempo tap is only as good as the finger hittin it..........

If the original is in 4/4 time, try setting the tap tempo average to 4 (mode > pad 10 > f2).
This will give you some time to lock into the beat.

Basic rule of thumb: An average of 2 works well with music written in 2/2 or 2/4(fast), while an average of 3 is good for music written in 3/4. An average of 4 fits just right with 4/4.

Knowing the meter of a song is important as it will enable you to count beats correctly which will help you to set the correct tap tempo average.
