FINALLY!

after all the trials and tribulations and issue I experienced with my 2500, I have finally gotten everything working and repaired. So I took the plunge and paid for my OSXL password yesterday. It took an entire 30 minutes for me to get the password from the time I paid!

I had been wanting to try OS2 since July and hadn't been able to. Now I am finally using it and loving it.
 and yes I have been playing PONG. without even thinking about it I had loaded up a kit that had some laser sounds and video game sounding stuff when I happened to find pong and started playing.
it was AWESOME!

Im so amped man.. I cant wait to really get into this sh!t and be able to SAVE!

All I need now is for my order to come from VST so I can finish up my customizations and Im good to go!

just wanted to let the world now.. or at least u guys..

PEACE

Oh and I installed the LED's you shipped me. They look dope!

Nice.. lets see some pics!
and yeah ever since I got my 2500 I have pretty much been in a state of "test mode"
waiting on it working at 100% so I can really get to it.. between the issues I was having and the akai os,
I just aint really ever "get to it". Now as soon as my buttons come and I can screw everything back down one last time... then im good.

but now.. yo this pong is killin me.. i cant stop playing it!

swapped the power supply assy, power switch assy, Operation pcb assy, and CPU Board pcb Assy, and 8 out Assy from a working 2500 to mine as planned. Although I got permission to do it from a manager at a big box music store in exchange for a 12 pack of Heinikin

I had tried swapping one aprt at a time to narrow it down to a specific issue, but had varying results when doing so.
Sometimes the crackle would vanish but the pop would remain, and vise versa and so on and so forth.
So finally I just pretty much swapped all the major components, except the F1-F6 board, the cf card reader/HP jack board, the cdrw board, the hd board, the midi port module, the qlink pcb, the screen, etc.

anyway, works great.
Im only posting this in case someone else suffers my issue.
and with the trouble I had getting help with this.. If ANYONE has a similar issue and needs help.

i have the free version of jjos (3.09) installed on my 2500. i'm having trouble understanding the differences (advantage & disadvantages) between OS1, OS2 and, XL. i'm still fairly new to the MPC and seem to work fine with the 3.09... but wonder, am I missing out on a lot with the other versions of the OS. i'm also a full time student, so shelling out $$$ for the OSXL frightens my pockets, if you know what I mean.

Can you briefly explain, in laments terms, why I would want to consider upgrading OS's.

thanks in advance.
