Hey Guys, can someone please please help me out here, I wanna do something rrreaaal simple!! all I want is to have a 2 bar loop with one kick where the kick starts at a high level and drops until it becomes nothing at 2.04.

I have done this before on older os's. velocity is not good cos it only brings it down to a certain level (1) so that takes velocity on the sliders, in step edit and in 16 levels all out of the question (unless there is a settingto make velocity 1 = zero volume.

 thanks

Wait so you're saying the kick at velocity of 1 is too loud? Lol why not just delete the note completely then..

thats EXACTLY what I'm saying....try it yourself and see. with a good pair of headphones you'll soon realise that there is room for lots more steps down. velocity 1 isn'teven that quiet.

so again, is there not a lvel function in grid or anything on os2xl? there was in previous os's right?

Go to Program, AMP tab, select the pad with your kick on it, set VELO to 0. In fact, set all your pads to 0.
Now go into grid edit and set the Velocity of your hit to 1.

All programs default to a velocity setting of 50 in the AMP tab of PROGRAM for some reason. VELO is the velocity scaling, so if it's set to 50 (as default), then the lowest velocity will be 50, so set it to 0.

Still, yeah... it aint totally quiet, but it's a damn sight better than the default 50 VELO.

If needed, set an empty pad to hit at 2.04 and set it to mute your kick pad.. voila.. silence at 2.04.

If you're just talking about 1 hit from a kick with a long tail, then ya gotta either set your amp envelope properly and/or use the LFO level setting (set to 100), use SAW DOWN, set your rate appropriately and put a delay on it to catch near the end of the tail.

I will try this later. thank you so much for your detailed and non sarcastic reply, it's seldom seen on this forum. I was gonna get round the problem by making a new program and assigning the drum across pads at different levels but I reckon your way will be better by the sounds...can't wait to get home and try that!!

an sheffield is a cool city by the way, i'm there most weekends!
