it sounds to me like JJ is abandoning all the MPC integration options in the JJ sequencer (which was probbly slowing down & holding back its development) and just concentrating on it being a standalone sequencer, not something you use as a complement to the MPC (which was his original idea anyway: "a beginner-orientated, easy to use sequencer").
i get the feeling that JJ is just sick of working with the MPC and all its limitations. he's not a musician so i don't think he has a lot of love for the MPC hardware other than as a means of making money. since sales of the new JJ OS's have been slowing to a trickle i think he's starting to look elsewhere for programming opportunities & cash flow.
at this point, i would love to make a strong push for JJ to open source his OS. there is stilll A LOT that can be done to improve it and a lot of bugs that need to be fixed. if JJ doesn't want to push things forward anymore it would be great if he would let the MPC user community take over and move development forward. imaine what could happen if we had 10, 20, or more people working on the OS instead of just one.
however, i think there may be some serious legal issues involved in making the OS open source, since a good chunk of that code is most likely Akais stuff. Akai has let JJ do his thing for a long time & the legal issues are murky, but releasing the code into the wild may just be enough to push the issue into copyright infringement & have Akais legal team on JJs a$$.
