whats with the data wheel type thingy?

why is there an addition for two types?

apparently, as of may 2009, new mpc 1000 units manufactured by akai have a different circuit board for the data wheel. this new model was causing some value skipping so JJ made the fix. it's only an issue for people who buy brand new (post may 2009) mpcs.
