He's referring to when you have to travel to do shows and the MPC (luggage for the flight) gets damaged or lost.

The venue has options that allow for a 1k but it's with the Akai OS not JJ so he stuff can't be loaded or used.
He was saying he would be ok with buying JJ to put on it but the JJ turnaround time would be fast enough for him to still do the show.


Which brings up another interesting point, why are people still using the Akai OS on the 1k?

If you have OS1 and OS2/OS2XL loaded on a CF card you can install them as necessary... you just won't be able to save.

I know people of saying that the machine won't likely fail. But shit happens. IMO i would never do a show without a plan B.
The simplest idea is to convert everything you are going to used for the show to be compatible with the Akai O.S, then keep it all on a separate CF card, labeled "Don't Panic".

You are that concerned with your mpc failing? If your mpc is breaking regularly at shows you need to invest in a new MPC, not a backup OS.

What are you doing live on the JJOS2 that you can't used the the Akai OS/ JJOS1? Triggering loops and samples? sure you're going to have to give up some work flow. But if you do all the work and add effects of the JJos2, then convert to Akai OS it should be do fine but a backup solution. Hell if you're only doing live work, You can even just make it JJOS1 compatible and don't save.
