something akai os has but jjos doesnt?!?!...

I remember when i was playing an mpc with akai os. I could have a song playing and while it was playing - (lets just say that the 'shaker' was on pad 1) - i could hit 'pad 1' while the live mix was playing, and the shaker sound would cut out of the mix. I could then hit it again, and it would come back and play just how it was pre recorded to play.

The only thing that is similar to this (that i can find) on the jjos is the mute track button (f5) but this is really impractical if you want to cut out (for example) both the bass and the shaker at the same time...

Im running jjos1 on the mpc 1000.
MY QUESTION IS, is there any setting that i can change so that it will have the same function as hitting the pad in the akai os?

yeah it still does this, hit mode+pad 7, f5 twice and it brings up the mute simult pad screen, say you have a hat,snare and a guitar hit on pads a1-4... on pad a16 you have nothing, make sure the mute function is activated in the mode box and go ahead and select pads a1-4 as targets 1-4 on pad a16 and you should be good to go.. pad mutes on the fly.

well thats the only thing that the jjos has that i can put into comparison with the akai os. The f5 button "track mute" (jjos) and just hitting a pad with the sound that you want to cut out, assigned (aksi os) (which the jjos doesnt have, i think, which i want!)

I never knew akai os could do that. That's dope if it can. But I'm not sure why jj would get rid of that, especially if he wrote the akai os in the first place... It's not in his documentation anywhere that he deleted that feature, and it's not in the akai manual either...

Some awesome feature the 1k never had? I spent quite an amount of time on the akai os, never met that feature. Its not in the manual either. Are you sure it wasnt just the trackmute screen? With the sound from pad 1 playing in track 1?

Tell you what, load the Akai OS back up then find the function and tell us what it is.

ok this is wierd. I loaded up the akai os (god its horrible, i never realised how bad it actually was. The load screen gives me night mares) and i recorded my own song, then tried to do the track mute thing but hitting the samepad as it was playing. But it didnt work, this is really wierd caus i remember it happening in the music store when i tried it...

Are you sure it wasn't a MPC5000 that you were messing with ?

...im pretty sure i can tell the difference between an mpc 5000 and an mpc 1000.

Maybe not since the 5k is the only MPC that has Pad Mute.

Just record pad 1 on channel one, pad 2 on channel 2 and so on. Then in track view mode you can do as explained.
