Is JJ done with OS2XL? Has anyone heard if he's planning on adding to it or finishing it once that BS sequencer is done. Or is he planning a OS3 after he finishes the sequencer? It's been a long time since the last update and even before the last update the time in between updates was beginning to get longer and longer and the updates were getting less and less useful, atleast for me anyway (although I am very thankful that the crashing while running OS2XL was fixed). Just wanted to know if anyone had heard anything.

I know from experience with other hardware pieces, that features will always get asked for no matter what you give, and when you start to reach end of the line in terms of system program space, adding new features gets a lot more difficult. Also, many suggestions would require rewriting of giant chunks of code. (hundreds of lines - so prohibitive) On top of all of this, adding features always means more menu diving for us end users, which can be a bad thing. Although the MPC with its big screen and lots of buttons is a nice, flexible piece of hardware to build features into.

What I do like is how there are different versions f the OS we can load, giving up different feature sets. What would be the best would be if we could pick and choose froma list of features and then the cutsom OS would be compiled on our computer into a .bin file for us to use on our MPC. But this is a whole programming odyssey in itself.

Weekend is here time to make some beats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
