Feature Request: AHD or Non-Linear AD Envelope

I feel that drum samples sound very thin when they are shaped with the help of the linear ADSR Envelope that is used in JJ OS 2 and 2Xl. This is because the envelope creates a high peak that is followed by a quick, linear decrease in volume (if sustain=0 and decay >=0)

This is a pitty because other samplers (Motu BPM, Maschine, etc) offer various envelope shapes such as non-linear (convex) AD or AHD (Attack-Hod-Decay) envelope which make shortened samples sound "fat", "punchy" and loud.

So it would be great to have new feature in JJ OS that gives you the possibility to choose between different envelope shapes for different programs, especially for drums.

Anybody else interested in something like that? I think we should ask JJ for it.

(Other than that I find that the ADSR envlope is too much of a hazzle to use if you just want to make a snare or a hihat a little shorter, because you will first have to adjust the sustain and then also the decay value. A nice AD with a convex shape is so much easier to use if you mainly deal with drum samples - and this is what an MPC is all about)

sounds good.. I haven't used OS2 or XL, but your logic makes sense to me.

The envelopes in os2/2xl is logarithmic, not linear. Use the fade out feature in trim mode to get those knocking sounds!

Hmm interesting, however for my workflow a destructive "fade in / out" can't really replace an AHD-envelope. Also, even if the current shape of the ADSR may be algorithmc it is still quite close to a linear decay which creates HIGH peak levels and LOW overall loundness of a sound.

I find it difficult to shape drum sounds with JJ's envelope. It would be great if it was possible to adjust the decay curve (e.g. just like with Logic's EXS Sampler) or alternatively have an AHD-envelope.
