OS 3.10 worth using or buy XL?

im about a to buy an mpc2500 end of this month but the os xl is rather expensive as i just saw on the site...version 3.10 is free but it is still better than the akai os right?


should i buy the xl,is it really that much better than 3.10

is it possible to tune a loop but not change the tempo on the 2500 and play it 16 levels note variation same tempo? i saw the 5000 is capable of that

i can´t do that on the mpc2kxl

That may be 'patched phrase' you're talking about, but for me any type of jiggery pokery with timestretching on the MP isn't worth the time trying to get it sounding good.

I was a long time 2kxl user (from release day up until last year), but JJ on the 2500 kicks the shit out of it in terms of functions and useability.

The free JJ will improve a lot of basic functions from the stock os and will be familiar if you're coming from the XL, but for the serious advancements you will need to buy it.

i started on free jj to learn the basic princips of the mpc because i never used it before and then i moved to os xl because of the features i started to miss on the free jj at the right time....

I'll throw down my opinion...

Check out the free OS, there is no harm in getting your groove on just to get a taste. Even comparing the free JJOS against the latest Akai release I'd still go with the free JJOS. If you like the things he's done with the MPC then definitely give the OS1/OS2/OS2XL a try, they are free to demo as you just are not able to save. See how the workflow suits you.

So the best thing I'd say is give it a try, you'll almost definitely be convinced it's worth the cash and make the purchase, but in the event that you don't care... well you can always go back to the Akai or Free JJOS.
