Question About Velocity ->Pitch in OS2XL

Is this possible in OS2XL? I just got this Operating system (actually a whole new MPC because mine was confiscated by the Moscow Police, but that's another story) and I can't seem to figure out how to map Velocity to Pitch, or Attack etc. I know I could do this in OS1, but the feature isn't on the comparison chart, and I also can't seem to find it in the Manual...

Unfortunately, that feature was discontinued after os1

You can still map velocity to pitch in the sample layer menu, but it's still a workaround.

Tell ya what, let me know how to do that workaround and I'll tell you the story of how the Moscow police took my MP.

Haha, okay. It's simple but limited to 3 three layers per pad. Go to program mode > sample, highlight a pad number (ex: A01) and press the window button. The sample layer menu will pop up. Here you can assign the same sample (or different samples) to the three layers and can map the tune/pitch to a velocity range.

Ah, I see. Better than Nothing though... Bummer about the loss of that feature, it was very useful for hat and snare variation... Anyway, so I recently went on tour in Europe, first couple shows were in Russia. We were drunk off of Vodka from toasting all night to the tours success, and on the way back to my man's flat, we were stopped by the police. I had the MP in a heavy duty SKB case, and the Police wanted to know what was in there, of course, I speak very little Russian, so I didn't really know what was happening, and was quite upset that they demanded I turn over the case. (Maybe a bit beligerent too, from the Vodka). Well, these **** cops make U.S. police look kind and civilized. They became rude, and apparently very happy to have my Machine in their possession. My friend explained Subtly that I might consider offering a bribe, and I explained, not so subtly that I had very little money and I WANTED MY **** MACHINE BACK DAMNIT. Bad move. They said basically they are taking it to the station to examine it and make sure it's not a bomb or some bullshit, and that I could pick it up in the morning.

Well, morning came and we went to the station, and those cops were nowhere to be seen. No one had any knowledge of my machine... I anguished for a bit (mostly over the data on the hard drive), then pulled myself together and fought on. Despite this, the tour was a huge success, and among other things, I am the First Underground American Rap act to Play in the Dictatorship of Belarus! It was awesome, despite the loss.

There are more related stories, like being Smuggled Out of Belarus on a Cigarette train, and Being attacked by wild dogs in Romania... Most exciting adventure of my life.

Oh Yeah, one more question: Does anyone have any Idea why my MPC will not communicate with my Mac through USB? it's really **** me up. My old one did it just fine...

Damn thats sucks. Basically got mugged by the cops. Otherwise it sounds like you had a great adventure.

I can't help you with anything Mac specific but on the MPC did you mount USB via load/save mode? Or sometimes re-initializing the OS (power on while holding the erase button) fixes stuff.
