no [F3 UTILITY] to format the flash card?

Hi.
JJOS3.10
MPC2500
2GB flash card.

problem - I'm sort of getting to grips with how it all works, and it was time to start again, clean slate, with a proper system for organising programs & samples, cos it was all getting a bit mental. I've been trying to work out how to store it all, and come up with this:

a few main programs of the main drum kits I use, an FX program & other things,
then every track that i work on will live in its own folder with a program of the same name, and all it's samples.

all good so far, so hooked it up to the mac for ease of shifting samples around, moved everything into a folder on the computer, then started to put things back in to the mpc (window on the computer) only to be told that theres no space left on the card?!?

the MPC window on the computer is empty, and when i eject it, to look in the card on the MPC it is also empty.

hmmm

next step was to re-format the card, and so wipe it clean, but the akai manual says [mode 2load], then [f3 utility], then [f6 do it]

the problem is that on the JJOS it doesn't appear to have the [f3 utility] option.

any ideas?

re-load the original OS?

any idea why it thought it was still full?
doesn't dragging things to the bin on the computer really delete the contents?

you might need to empty the bin, while the mpc is attached, otherwise I think the files might not be deleted or something ... there's some issue with mac's bin and removable drives but I don't remember the details

yep, pastors right.

i get loads of people at work, complaining that they got no space left on their sticks. they don't realise you got to empty the bin with device still plugged in!

Emptying the recycle bin should work properly on Mac OS X. I do it all the time myself.

nice to not get jumped on to 'read the ****** manual!

especially as the manual is very dry, like a dodgy translation, and doesn't give any tips on what you all call 'workflow'
it's not that easy to work out how the thing works, but i'm glad i stuck at it.
i'm really starting to have fun now.
a hardware only music machine, no computer connected (apart from sample organisation). i knew it was possible.
there's too many 'laptop "lives" around the festivals in the uk, of the 'just press play' types.
bollox to that. i'll show 'em.
