Syncing MPC 1000 w/ Cool Edit Pro

I need to record all of my tracks separately (kicks, snares, sample, etc.) from the MPC 1000 through my FastTrackPro soundcard into CoolEdit. I midi synced the MPC 1000 to the soundcard through both my 1/4 inch cables and a midi cord (dont know if both were necessary). I adjusted the SMPTE settings in Cool Edit and noticed activity (at the bottom left of the screen) when i pressed stop on my MPC but nothing when the beat was playing. i tried to adjust the settings in the midi/sync option on the MPC (I was shown that in order to achieve what i am trying to do, i needed to set the MP to "slave" but that was on an MPC5000 and it doesnt have that option on the 1000 - so even w/ that i was pretty lost!) Obviously im just trying to sync this all up so that when i press play on the MPC it will automatically record in cool edit so that when i layer each track in cool edit it wont b off time and the beat will remain in tact - but properly separated and not just one wav form that cannot b adjusted after its been tracked out. Apologies for this being so lengthy...just lookin' for a direct answer to the situation!!

mpc works best receiving midi clock (beat clock) - setup cool edit to send that to the mpc's midi ports.

midi time code doesnt work well (for me - say using logic to have mpc slaved to it) so i recommend beat clock.

on receiving beat clock, the mpc will spring into action on tempo in sync - when the daw is started, playback of mpc seq's works fine, therefore tracking the contents of an mpc seq into an audio track on the daw is fine, and also recording into the mpc is also fine under sync. so try that.

I can't get adobe audition to sync properly with mpc as master but I get cubase to sync perfectly with MTC and mpc as master. An adobe audition bug? Maybe try another program funk?
I use mpc as master because I utilise all four midi outs for my hardware synths/drum machines, tighter than sync from PC, but if you can live with sync from PC, try what arebee sez.

good looks guys! yea based on the trial and error i have done in the past cpl days, it seems like cool edit doesnt have the capabilities to do all of the necessary tracking i need done...i have a whole youtube tutorial on how to do this with cubase...and with what you two have been able to tell me - so i really appreciate and hopefully ya'll can bump the beats soon!!

skip all those synching, slaving issues if it's not working out.

just resample each track (with a one bar sequence at the front with a few snares, so you can line everything up in time) and use USB to drag and drop into your DAW.

Man that'd send me insane and would take ages. I just open cubase with my default recording template, hit play on my mpc and boom.

Why use cooledit over cubase if you have both? Or do you not have both?
