MPC as audio-loopmachine: Possible??

Hi,

i'm a dj and right now i'm using the mpc to control Serato (Scratch Live, the djing software from rane to play audio-files from a computer on the turntables via timecode-vinyl). This works pretty well.

So my question now is:
Is it possible to use the MPC as a loopmachine?

what i mean is:

is it possible to record 4 bars of audio, continue playing these 4 bars and while the sequence is still playing record another 4 bars on another track?

i know that of course this works when i record, then press stop and then record again.
But the point is that i want to use this for live-djing, so i want to be able to create loops live from several audio-records, each on a different track, WITH THE SEQUENCE ALWAYS PLAYING?

I could't get this to work...
Does anyone know if this is possible?

You should buy a dedicated machine for that purpose.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Like Direct Record but the sequence keeps playing while you record in more stuff and layer in real time. To my knowledge, no, but the SP555 can do that. Try a MultiLooper footpedal too.

This really sucks as i guess it would be sooo easy for a programmer to get this to work..

(he explain how he do this at 2:15) Damn I like his demonstration. Especially when the drums come in.

As far as I see it in the video he just use a footcontroller that simply send MIDI messages to Live so it should be no problem to replace that footcontroller with your MPC. You just have to set it up like this. Hit Pad 1 = record loop 1 on track 1, hit pad 2 = play loop 1 and record loop 2 on track 2 etc

abelton and serato just worked together on that software called "the bridge" that build....a bridge between serato and live, so that could be interesting for you too.

It's all about the loops.

of course it is. Everything goes in cycles fron the electrons that revolve around the nucleus to the moons round the planets to the planets revolving round the sun. Also the sinewave is from a mathematic pov a 360 degree cycle. Its all about loops and cycles.
