Forum to discuss all matters relating to the MPC1000 and MPC2500 operating systems created by 'JJ' (all versions).

I have an MPC2500 w/ JJOSXL on it. I discovered this cool feature, but I can't find it documented anywhere.

Load some samples and assign them to some pads. In the sample setup, turn on Filter 1 for some of the pads. Put the Filter Type to HPF and make the Freq value very low, even 0, so the filter really isn't being used. Then, hook up a MIDI controller that has the basic Freq and Res CCs set -- 74 and 71-- I have a Novation SL with the XY touchpad set up this way.

With this setup, the MIDI controller will realtime alter the samples HPF Freq and Res. Also, Pitchblend will alter the Tune+- of the sample.

This is all very cool, but I can't find it documented anywhere in MPC or JJs stuff that says it actually does this. It also looks like setting up some of the Q Sliders overrides this.

I have a sneaking feeling that it is not documented because it is not fully functional yet. (Meaning the Multi-channel adjustment of filter cutoff).
I tried this with level and pan and it works well as promised, but when I tried it with filter cutoff it sounded like it was adding some kind of envelope to the filter making the samples attacks hit less hard.
I'd have to do more checking to know for sure tho.

According to the link to the chart above it was first implemented in os2.

-------------------------------------------
Bug fixes: OS2 Ver1.18 23-JUL-2008
-------------------------------------------

New
[MIDI IN]
MIDI CC Number02 or 74 ==> Filter Cutoff
MIDI CC Number71 ==> Filter resonance
(Only active track )
It is added to the value of a program.

Ah, I thought it was only working on the active track then, no? It now works across 16 midi channels in Multi timber mode. So you could have a midi controller with 16 levels, 16 pans, and 16 filter cutoffs. But.... cutoff is working kind of wonky in my experience..

I remember the addition that was added in 2008 and forgot it existed in OS2xl. Good to see this topic being discussed, as many of us are hoping for improvements on controlling Q-links with MIDI CCs.

Today is a good day for me to spend more time catching up with the OS and any remaining functions of my Axiom 49 that I've been meaning to learn.

Aside of that, elmacaco is looking to fly to Japan and buy JJ a few rounds of Sapporo for more additional Q-link control via MIDI CC.

Yeah, this is what I was experiencing. If this could get sorted out it would be KILLER for live performances. filters on each of 16 tracks via dedicated fader box, egads!!

Yeah, but when i wrote to JJ about it he responded that it was not possible at the time :(
