Ones that have the problematic pads yes.. look back through the forums if you want/need proof. I don't want to argue with you about it, what is the point? I'm pleased you haven't experienced the issue, but that does not mean that the problem doesn't exist for others. But, if you want to believe that, that is also fine with me.

I just want the original poster to not be put off by it and try the pay versions because it is a shame to miss out on jjos because of this well known issue with jjos free, and to prevent him wasting time trying to get it to work. No amount of messing about with settings will resolve it, I know because I went through it all when I first got my MPC 1000. I'm glad somebody helped me out when I had the problem, and I am simply passing on that good will.

Thanks.

I went onto the akai site and downloaded the OS for my mpc, then i pkugged my mpc into the computer and put the OS file on my CF card, now do the same thing you did when installing jjos, :) if you get stuck PM me :):)

Glad to help :)

You can tell which pads you have by wobbling a pad from side to side, if the adjacent pads move then you have the newer(better) ones because they are in a big sheet. Another tip which has improved things a lot for me is to put some 3mm spongy tape underneath the pads which means you don't have to hit them so hard and improves the sensitivity a lot. It's made it much more expressive for me. I just used some double sided sticky tape, but only stuck one side and it worked a treat.

Yes you can buy from the UK, I am here too, but I would say buy XL, it is just brilliant and being actively developed, although you can get it in stages without it costing any more if money is an issue. Be aware that from v2 onwards though it wipes out the 5mb sample memory where all the default akai samples are stored, not that I have missed them for one second.. :)

LOL yeah, the samples that come with the mpc arent that great, im still wondering how to delete them and turn off autoload, because they suck compare to the drums i have on my comp. :) again thanks man, really appreciate it.
Abit off topic but have you posted any of your music, id like to hear it :)

this just occurred to me:

go into trim mode and check if the samples have LOOP enabled.

definately happend to me like this before.

Also, I have this one damn hihat wav and i think something is corrupt in it, cuase everytime i load it i get repeating hits like loop is on or something. no matter what i do it does it, im pretty sure its something corrupt in the file itself so i no longer use it.

whoa there.... i wasn't doubting u, not one bit, i mean how would i know, i'm not using the free os, ive been using all the paid os's (since the day after i tried the free os and realised this `JJ guy needs a paid job and will be good at it if i support it),

but i'm quite amazed that the free os user is just left high n dry - clearly a method to get the user to buy a version eventually. or more likely that akai keep moving the goal post on JJ by replacing hardware in a machine he's developing for.

Arebee

Glad to hear it, sorry I misinterpreted what you wrote, JJ should definitely fix it to make sure it works on all machines so that nobody returns to akai (who would?).

i've said it before and i'll say it again: JJ should just DELETE that free os from his website permanently!

if someone wants to try out the JJ OS, they can install & run any of the current versions and check out all of the features as long as they want, they just can't save anything until they pay for it. i think that's more than enough for someone to decide whether they like it or not. and how could you not like it compared to the wakai os??!

but keeping an old unsupported os around like the free one has caused nothing but problems.

1. it's old and obsolete, can only do a FRACTION of what the current os can do. if someone tries the free os only they might not think JJ is that great and never get to see all the awesome new features that we currently have.

2. people keep having problems with the free os and come here asking tons of questions that are confusing. it's hard to remember what weird issues apply only to that ancient os due to hardware conflicts, os shortcomings, etc...

3. if someone wants to benefit from JJs work, they should pay the man. i don't think it's fair to just use the free os and never pay the guy for the work he did.

but anyway, it's JJs decision. for whatever reason he decides to keep it around so i got to respect that.

I agree with you too on the three points.

When you see the comparison chart there are no obvious reason to use the free JJ os ( it even lacks features compared to AKAI OS 2.13)

http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/chart.htm

The reason it's still there is because you need it to upgrade to the other JJ OS no?

I can agree on every point except the last one.Not that it matters, but it is jj's os.It's fair if JJ feels it's fair.it's his to give. I personally think it's nice of him to give a free o.s. I never used it,but someone may not have $123.00 & making a track & not being able to save is a pain.1st a free customer......then a paying costumer....smart.
