i am just learned how to do the x-fade loop stuff on the jjos 2xl on my 2500, and i choose a part i want to loop, then it plays fine, i do it with a few other pads and they all work fine, but when i go to save my program and i turn off my mpc; the loop i made to sustain isnt there anymore. leaving me with gaps of silence in my sequence.
this would be very frustrating if i was actually making a beat, im just kinda messing around with it right now; but i would really like to know how this feature works and especially how i save what i have done with it.

i looked through the online manual for the jjos 2xl and it doesnt say anywhere that i could see how to save your alt loop points.

i also found that when i was messing around with the loop points in trim mode, my loop loops for however long i hold the pad down for, but when i click "main" and go back to the main sequence screen, it only loops twice, why is that?

i was looking in the manual, at the little lock button next to the xfade, forward and alt loop parameters, but i am still wondering what it does. i clicked it to lock and all i could tell that it did was set my numbers back to zero under the xfade parameter.

its called "linking the loop point to the start point" in the manual here

http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/os2xl/trim_2e.htm

any help would be greatly appreciated.

i feel like these alt loops could really step my beat game up.

ok thanks, i was thinking that earlier today, but i never used the save entire memory feature before, i always saved program files with samples and had a seperate sequence folder that i would put my sequences in. the save entire memory kinda confused me because i like to know EXACTALY where my stuff is, i thought that maybe if i saved entire memory i would lose track of some of my samples for some reason.

as of rigt now my folder for a beat would looks like this.
first i have a main samples folder that umbrelllas all of the beats taht im working on.

inside my samples folder i have my beats laid out in seperate folders. with the raw sample, and all of its chops, and a program file inside it. my beat folder that im working on will also have a sequence folder inside it that has any sequences i have made with that particular program.

so it looks like this "(" ")" are folders
"(( ))" denotes a folder within a folder

(samples folder)

(beat 1 folder) contents: "beat 1 raw sample.wav"/ beat 1-01.wav/ beat 1-02.wav/ beat 1-03.wav/ ect. BEAT 1. pgm
((beat 1 sequences folder)) > beat 1, 4 bar seq.

(beat 2) with the same stuff as above

(beat 3) with the same stuff as above

so if i saved entire memory after i loaded up all of my samples the way i like to right now, would it mess up the way i work with my samples or just save another copy of that with my alt loop/ xfade loop stuff with it?

i just dont want to lose anyting from not doing save entire memory from the start.

if i am making a beat with more than just one program i just remember what program i was using then i re laod taht up aswell.

thanks for your replies, im gonna try and wrap my head around this right now.

this is exactly why i use save entire memory.
while i do like to re-use programs sometimes (and be able to retrieve them whenever), i invariably save every song project in its own folder so that it is self contained, completely, and that nothing will ever go missing. it's all right there easily found in one folder.

ok thanks for all your replies guys, i did the save entire memory and loaded up my beat program, as wlel as another one with drums.

so just to verify

program A has my beat

and program B has the drums.

i made a whole new folder now called entiere memory beats or something
then inside that i made a folder called (insert my beat name here) well use beat 1 again

so its like this now

at the top is my

(samples folder) inside this i still have
(beat 1)
(beat 2)
(beat 3)
ect.

but i made a new folder in that that is now called

(beat 1 entire mem) ( i actaully messed this up and made a folder called entire mem beats outside of that folder taht i just realized and i forgot to make it pertain to a specific beat, so it says entire mem beat, and inside it is all of my stuf from beat 1, and the other program i used to reference for the drums in this as well.

my question now is if i moved any of those other programs would it mess with my entire mem beat or are these complete seperate copies?

and also if i slow down the tempo dramatically (my orginail sample tempo is about 79) but if i go down to 60 there is still silence at the end of the bar, isnt this not supposed to happen? shouldent my xfade loop loop constantly until the next pad mutes it?

thanks alot for your replies guys, this is really helping me alot!
