Good question... I play the guitar at a moderate level. I consider myself a campfire guitar player, mainly just strumming chords. I play the keys just a bit, and I play the harmonica. Samplers, to me, are the ultimate instrument. It opens the doors allowing you to play any instrument you can find. It also removes a lot of the limitations that an instrument may have.

I can play the violin a little, I'm hugely out of practice, but I was pretty good as a kid.

I can strum a few chords, definitely a hobby though haha.

Play a little piano, again from having lessons as a kid.

Now I just use my samplers and a couple of synths.

Mmm, slightly OT... never mind. This is fun.

Most of my life I've been a singer and guitar player in bands - but I finally grew old and wise enough to quit singing
I've played bass with some bands, also played piano for a while. Someday I'm going to have a real piano - it's a pig to move, ugly to look at, very hard to record properly, but how it fills the room with sound.

Nowadays I mostly play with samplers and synths. And trying to learn the Theremin.

I used to play the guitar in several bands something like 10 years, and somehow started to learn how to use samplers and synths mostly because I liked the posibilities in sound mangling, with the sampler and effects, nowadays I only play my synths , mpc1000 and use logic and ableton :D

It's ok to keep it here, since we're all using the MPC1000 and MPC2500 JJ OS, where the INPUT THRU and AUDIO TRACKS serve a good purpose to utilize recording these instruments. I had thought about starting the same topic here, but never got around to it.

That being said, I've been playing guitar since I was 9 years old. I don't play as often as I would like to, so I'm not as good as most who have been playing for over 30 years. But I love playing guitar and bass. I used to play in some local punk, hardcore, and metal bands. I find the JJ OS is a lot of fun with recording guitar and bass tracks.
I own a BC Rich Mockingbird ST and a Gibson SG Jr.
Using a mic from my amp with a tube preamp works well. So do DigiTech effects pedals which have a MIXER OUTPUT for amp simulation.

If anyone does what I've experimented with above, they will see the usefulness of the JJ OS for this purpose. Maybe it will give others more ideas to experiment with. Hope to read more responses in this topic. :)
