NOTE VARIATION parameters are not accessible/visible in MIDI tracks, but they still affect samples in pgms playing back on MIDI tracks.

1- create a pgm X out of a chopped sample
2- create 2 tracks, one DRUM and one MIDI
3- record a performance on both tracks.
4- enter the DRUM track STEP EDIT
5- NOTE: note variation parameters are visible (off by default)
6- enter the MIDI track STEP EDIT.
7- NOTE: note variation parameters are invisible.

this is an unfortunate limitation. a lot of the time, i use MIDI tracks for the MIDI grid, which for some things is better than DRUM grid (for example, it gives you graphic display of duration, allows you to see more than 16 notes at a time, etc). however, in order to reach the NOTE VARIATION option, i must change my track from MIDI to DRUM, change the nv stuff in step edit, and then change the track back to MIDI. this is cumbersome.

i would like either NV to be introduced to MIDI track step edit (it would be ineffective if you're simply controlling external midi modules) or a new track type to be introduced (INST track, which shows a MIDI track grid but a DRUM track step edit).

this modification to JJOS2xl will help with some macros i am trying to write, as well.

any thoughts on this?
