My interest in the Pattern to Pad function kinda dissipated when I realized that it doesn't incorporate timing correction or live quantization. Ideally, I'd like to have the option for Patterns to fill, overlap, or replace each other based on a 1/16 or 1/8 bar quantization. Regardless, I'm guessing it's a powerful feature for some of you. I never used Patterns before xl3, so I'm curious to see what ideas people have for this new function.

Its a pandoras box for you to open. It has many benefits.

You just have to make sure your pattern is in time first, turn on quantise and hit the pads....real time quantise! wont change quantise while playing but pad hit will be in time, pattern is in same tempo as sequence, so if you hit pad and done above, you will have fills and such be in time. try it.
Patterns to pad are single tracks that can be converted to patterns, that are triggered by a pad hit. which can be up to 99 bars long and they loop to. Mad stuff 64 fills per program after ya make em that is. all in time when ever you want em. they overlap as well. THey can also be chained together as well.
But it gets better as it can be assigned a midi cahannle and can contain midi continuous controller data. MIDI CCs are usd to control synths so you can set up patterns that play midi note parts on an external synth, or set up filter sweeps, lfo changes, program changes. So i hit a pad and my bass synth filters sweeps up and down in time (cos i made pattern in time). loops as well...mad stuff

Perplexed over Patterns/CC/PC to Pad.

When the PTRN field is set to ON, any pad assigned with a pattern (regardless of Program, Track, or Sequence) will trigger a pattern.

Not being able to assign the function to a program or track is a bit hard to adjust to.

I'm also having a hard time figuring out how to save these configurations.

Help/insight?

Thank you.

This is a new feature of JJOSXL 3.04. You need that first. Then read online manual. its clear and easy

Hi Bliprock, thanks for the feedback.

I think I was misunderstood. I've been using the latest JJ, but I'm finding that the way the pad patterns are saved/loaded to be a bit counter-intuitive for me. It doesn't appear simple to load projects with different pad pattern/CC settings. If the pattern settings were stored in programs (or something like programs) it would make sense to me.

Or, perhaps I'm missing something basic.
