how to assign multisamples with the help of mpc editor?

i have several multisampled instruments..i want to assign them to the pads, so that i can play them from a microkorg attached with midi to my mpc 2500..

ok i open the mpc editor application. every note on the multisample has its key next to it, for example d1, d1# etc..i suppose i must start from pad A1 with the lowest note, then A2 with the next, and go up to the pad D16 with the highest note? and then load the pgm along with the samples to the mpc and do auto-chromatic assign?

thank you, i ask because ive never done this before, and the mpc editor has some weird numbers next to the pads..for example pad A1 has "note 37" next to it, then pad A2 has "note 36", and then pad A3 has "note 42". this confused me a lot. ain't i supposed to place the note to the pads straight-forward from the lowest to the highest?

Those weird numbers next to the notes are the MIDI NOTE NUMBER. You generally want to set the multisample to match the corresponding MIDI number so when you play a pad it has a corresponding midi number that matches microkorg. From memory i believe you can not change this and make pads 1 - 64 a lower MIDI number. This can be dealt with easily. All you do is make you mutisample program say a octave higher or lower, on the pads. So pad 1 is C1 and C2 on korg. It is a work around and does not matter as you can play microkorg to samples and it will be spread across the microkorgs keys like a true multisample. Velocity layers is what gives you the depth to multisample instruments and so recommend that you set up the MPC Program to have it this way. I do not know of software that makes compatible multisample instruments for akai MPC1000 programs. I do it manualy

Default MIDI note order on an Akai OS MPC is 37, 36, 42, 82 etc, while JJ OS 2XL is just chromatic starting at 36.

It's never been explained why the Akai order is so odd.

I just have a blank program already made with the MIDI notes re-assigned. I believe you can do this in mpceditor although from memory, I think MPC Editor will not allow you to save a blank program. if not, boot up your MPC with the free JJ OS or akai os and set one up that way.

However, if you are running JJ 2XL, you should probably forget MPCeditor, it's really for older MPC formats.

plus jjosxl maps your multisamples automatically (the root notes have to be part of the filename, though).

thank you guys, for real. i have the free jjos, no money for an upgrade. so, if i got it, i should make a blank program on the mpc, with A! pad assigned to 36, A2 to 37 and so on. then ignore the weird numbers on the mpc editor and just assign the samples chromaticallly. and then import that sample in the mpc?

would it be easier to just import via usb the multisamples in the mpc hd and assign the samples to the pads from there?

yeah i never use the multisample much, but its very useful

As mentioned there is no editor that does JJ, however if you want to use an editor with the 1k BlueBox is better than MPCEditor.
