It might be possible with the old pad bank + pad shortcut but as suggested upgrade and use the L&H type in program mode (note on> one shot> loop&hold)
Main Limitations that come to my mind now are : it will play for a max duration of 65000 (approximately 4/5 minutes at 120bpm, enough in 99% of cases) and when playing without recording if you switch tracks and play the same pad the loop will be stopped.

Useful tip : if you assign the L&H samples to the same mute group, you can make them cut between themselves. Otherwise you often have to press the pad twice.
