How to step through MIDI grid?

The MPC2500 has a LOCATE section, with: < STEP >, << BAR >>, |< EVENT >|.

In MIDI GRID EDIT, I'd expect to be able to move through the notes with |< EVENT >|, then move through the grid based on the current TIMING CORRECT setting using < STEP >.

But < STEP > moves through the notes, and |< EVENT >| does nothing. Then if there's a blank bar, < STEP > doesn't even go there, and just stays with the last recorded note.

I'd like to be able to LOCATE by both event and grid. Is this a bug, feature request, or me not knowing how to do it?

First page of the grid edit section in the manual explains how to step through the grid using the note repeat and data wheel. Shift and step buttons do the rest of what you're asking, I believe.

Thanks, somehow I overlooked that in the manual. Not sure why the |< EVENT >| buttons are ignored, but [NOTE REPEAT] + [DATA] does what I want.
