Hey Y'all,

I just downloaded the JJOS2XL and installed it on my MPC1000. With the new change, I thought I dust off my Midi Keyboard, Edirol PCR-300 and see how it works with the MPC.

I couldn't find a way to use the keyboards nine pots, nine sliders and crossfader with the mixer of the MPC.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks and peace.

PS> I couldn't find an answer by searching.

the JJOSXL does respond to CC71 and CC74 for the filter res and cutoff. I do not believe that the volumes can be controlled by CCs. try the usual CC for volume and see if it responds but unless it is in multitimbral mode then I doubt you could do this. You can use sequencer to set track volumes though. I would also point out that in normal mode the active track is the only one that will respond to these CCs.

In your keyboard settings, you need to assign a different midi note or CC number to each fader/ pot on the keyboard. Then you need to assign a function to the corresponding note/ CC in button mode on your MPC. If you search the phrase "button mode" on this very sub-forum you'll find all kinds of wonderful information :smoker:

edited for clarification.

I assume button mode works the same regardless if multi-timbral mode is on or off. Multi-timbral mode doesn't really fit into the way I do things so my only experience with it is when testing out one of my crack pot ideas.

One thing worth mentioning. If you're going to assign notes to functions instead of CC numbers, you'll need to designate a midi channel for control data (I use channel 16) so the control notes won't interfere with the music notes and vice versa. Doing this will only leave you with 15 midi channels so that might be a problem for multi-timbral users.

Thanks for the pointers crew. I'll be investigating at a very slow pace because I'm currently swamped with other projects. But at least now I know that it is a feasible expectation.

Out of curiosity, does anyone else here use an Edirol PCR keyboard with their MPC?

Peace.

yeah i just use a microkorg as my controller in this case myself. It has broken pot to so sometimes the CCs go all over the place and the samples go mental. lol, i should sample it going crazy. look no hands I say to my friends as it goes off
