please dont type in all caps, its annoying to read.

to answer your question, you want to get a good signal volume, its better to record hotter without clipping than it is to record very quiet.

since the mpc doesnt have a number system when recording, i try and get my samples past the place where it says "level meter," maybe around where it says Note.
you can always record turn down the volume per pad in program mode later.

Turn the volume on whatever it is you are going to sample pretty high, like 90%. Depends what you are sampling, but get a good strong signal from it. Now go to the Recording mode and press 'Reset Peak', and play your sample. Watch the level meters move, and the highest point will be marked with little squares. This should go as far to the right as possible without actually hitting the rght hand side (if it does touch the side you will get digital clipping which adds a (generally unpleasent) type of distortion to your sample). If the meter is hitting the right hand side, turn the rec level down and try again. You should see good solid amounts of meter without it hitting the highest levels. If your rec level knob is turned way down but you are still hitting the top of the recording meter, then turn the volume on your sample source down a bit. It's better to have a loud sample source and a low vollume rec knob setting than the other way around.

By the way, what's with the 'email me asap'? You mean you expect us to write out answers for standard stuff to you, but you are too lazy to bother coming back to the forum to check for them? tut tut.
