Recording from MPC to IMAC / computer!

Yo. I recently bough a mpc 1000 and i started making some beats. but eventually i have to record the beats / sequences into my Imac.

So anybody knows any simple way to record from mpc 1000 into my Imac without loosing any sound quality ( and wich software is suitable for the job ) I have audacity atm. Ive been watching vids and tutorials on utube but they seem to have like this crazy setup and plugin into several boxes. what cables and what equippment do i need ?

My gear atm is a SL 1200 + an old pioneer mixer + mpc 1000 + m-audio keyrig 49 wich i bough today, so if any has a software recomendation for my midi keyboard aswell i would appriciate.

I appriciate all help i can get but keep in mind im pretty newbie with music gear and setup so explaining it on a basic level is the best

simplest way - use a dual 1/4" to stereo 1/8" cable plugged from the main outs of your mpc to the line in on your computer.

record with audacity.

thanks for the help, Ill get one of these cables also if i am gonna connect my midi keyboard together with my mpc do i just plug from midi out on the keyboard and into midi in on the mpc ?

Audacity is a good start.

Try reaper www.reaper.fm ... if you wanna start midi editing and multitrack recording... (track seperate parts out to multitrack to mix in the computer rather than the mpc)


You could also try using the spdif out on the mpc1000 ( Sockets that are rca) For this your computer needs a soundcard with spdif in ..

there is no reason for you todo anything else but this^ for now.

yer welcome.
and yes - plug the midi out of the keyboard to the midi in of the mpc.
your keyboard will now control whatever track you have selected on the mpc.
you can adjust this but it adds a level of complexity and i'd say hit up your manual good first.

I got my external USB soundcard and in the input goes my MPC sound, it transfers the sound to my laptop.
The soundcard also transfers the sound further with the output to my monitors.
Pretty simple setup.

Since you're using jjos you might want to try the mixdown feature. I just recently discovered it and I'm really digging it. It's in the songmode screen, you can solo each track, hit mixdown, it will save as a wav and you can then save on a flash disk then drag and drop that wav into whatever DAW you use.

I don't always have my projectmix turned on nor do i feel like hooking it up all the time, so it's easier if all I wanna do is track out a beat.
