I come from a time far far away where the phrase "audio tracks" with regards to an MPC, didn't exist so please bear with me. As I read up on the forums and JJOS, I see that this Audio Tracks now, is a pretty big deal. So, with that being said, can someone school me as to how they work (mostly with relation to how they differ from just sampling the audio in question) and what are their uses, i.e. how one would use them in a workflow? Is this more for live work? How would/why one use them when making a beat? Again, I am completely new to this idea so help is appreciated.

what is there to not get? it's an audio track. the name says it all...

if you have an 8 bar sequence, you can record an audio track that is 8 bars long to play along with your sequenced samples... let's say i want to play a live bass line on a beat i have... i go to track 57 [audio tracks are track number 57-64] and when i hit record in track 57, i start to play bass and it records the audio input as an audio track that when played back will sound exactly the way it was recorded. it's basically like using the MPC as a multitrack recorder...

it's not a hard concept. just play around with the audio tracks and you'll see.

Unnecessary.

I don't have an MPC with JJOS, yet. So I can't play around with it. I'm doing my research first. Thanks.

As I stated in my first post, I've never ever used or heard of the concept. I come from the 3000, the 2000xl, and the 4000 all of which, don't use audio tracks. Have you ever used a 4000? If not, I'm sure there are plenty of things about it that you wouldn't understand that seem pretty obvious to me. So again, unnecessary. Don't act smarter than thou because you know what an audio track is and I don't. I doesn't make you special.

i've never drank diet coke, but i can tell what it is from the name without having to try it... not trying to be a dick here, but i still ask... what else could it be if not a track of audio on the mpc? you don't need to answer at this point...

The live tracks are just hard disk recording tracks.

They'll record whatever you send through the inputs, like vocals for instance and record it to a track like an old tascam.

Yup

Wasn't there a problem with audio tracks? Like the start time was offset or something? Or was that fixed?

Help! I am doing audio tracks using a MPC1000 with JJOS ver3.13 and whenever I record there is a problem. I am tracking bass, just like mentioned above. I go into record mode and the click is not even...its seems to race at the start.
To make matters worse, I record to the click (once it evens out)..and the audio is not in time with the click I just tracked to (!!!!)
any help appreciatted.
is this a bug?
is this because its the free JJOS? (mine is 3.13)

any clues appreciatted!

One big use is that you can in effect bounce midi tracks into wav files and import them into your DAW which is way better than a audio pass when it come to the 2500. It's technically not a bouncing because you're sampling the main outs into audio tracks, but I refer to it as bouncing.

That's just one of the many uses for audio tracks.
