Midi sync problem or what?

Hey there. This is my first post. I hope you can help!

My MPC is connected with my pc with midi out (pc) and midi in 1 (mpc) so i have a synced start/stop signal.
I recorded a melody and a bassline in Cubase 5 and now i want to record the drums synced on the mpc.
(Later i´d like to export the drums to cubase...)
When i press the record+play button on the mpc it only records for the length of the loop (in this case 4 Bars)
and then stops recording so recording a drumloop is not possible.
Do you have an idea what the issue is?

There are a couple of different sync modes - Midi Clock & Midi Time Code (on Mode button & Pad 9). Have a play about with them, see if that solves the issue.

You may have loop turned off for your sequence. It may help if make your mpc sequence 4 bars and enable looping.

Hey yona! You mean the sequence is too short and stops recording your midi or sound after 4 bars and you want it to continue?

I think from memory you can use blank sequence and not overdub and it goes for as long as you play, but I have not tried that way myself with a DAW just with MPC. give that a go though and it might just go as long as your DAW track. IF not then just change the length of the sequence to match the length of the sequence or track in your DAW. Simple right?

It is in the manual how to set the length of the sequence. set it to how ever long you want it to be so you can do 128 bars if you want, but yeah make it how ever long it is in your DAW, then record to that sequence.

learn about MASTER and SLAVE (MPC not oppression lol) and the benefits of each.

Personally, i would take advantage of the MPC's sequencer and use this as MASTER and pc as SLAVE, i seem to get better results when controlling a DAW this way......

^^ Blip is right too. if you have a 128 bar sequence in your PC - create one of equal length in the MPC (same tempo / timing) and they should play back the same,

the way i do it (mpc as master / pc as slave) lets me use the BAR navigation buttons on the mpc to move around my DAW.

Hey thx for your replies- been a while now but i figured it out on my own.
As you mentioned the length (bars for the sequence on the MPC) has to correspond to the setting on the daw.
The problem was that each time the Loop starts from the beginning, the pc sends a sync command (or sth like this) to the mpc and so the recording is interrupted.

I´d like to try out the possibility with mpc as master / pc as slave but i have no clue how to configure that Any advice is appreciated
