is it possible to use random or cycle in some way with an external midi note, so that fornthe same incoming note, the mpc plays different samples?
it seems like only the sample assigned in the program is played, not the cycle or random or even simult. the remote controlling feature lets you control everything via midi notes, except for the pads... :(

Anyone know if its possible to have a pattern running which would keep sending pc's to the track to keep switching programs? If each program was just a tiny variation on the others I would probhbly get h similar effect to 'cycle'. as long as the samples don't cut off when changing programs or otherwise make audio glitches.

Anyone know if this would work? I'm at work and can't check..

I do not believe this is possible without some external gear. I created a device that allows the MPC to do this, although that's probably not much help to you at the moment. I was considering making a simple Mac/Win filter app to do the same if there was enough interest. Basically, you send the pads to the device or app that randomizes notes within a bank and send it back to the MPC input to trigger samples.

Here's the original thread. viewtopic.php?f=25&t=152178

I have used patterns to change program in Xl. Will try in is 3 and get back to you but it was doable I think. Just make blank track and put in pc message. But you have to set program's pc number first. Hit window when program name is highlighted and then this takes you to program window. Now set program change number for your program's. now use blank track with just pc messages and make it a pattern then assign it to pad and then set target track. That should work

Seems to work fine but only in p.stats screen. Otherwise the pc msgs are sent out of the mpc. It's probably possible to loop the midi back in but my ports are already pretty busy with other gear and I don't wanna mess with that. P.stats is ok for now. If there is another way plz let me know
