OS 2XL - Envelope & Aftertouch to Pitch Question

Hey,

I'm wondering if anybody has had any luck using the envelope to pitch feature in OS2XL?

Specifically, in the manual it states that if you set playback speed to 0 (not 44k which is default speed), then using the envelope at negative values should actually make a sample play backwards sometimes.

I'm having no luck getting it to play in reverse, but it seems to do what it should when using the envelope or aftertouch with positive values… Such a great feature!!


Any ideas?

Sorry, forgot to mention, in case anybody is confused by what i'm talking about here: this feature is part of the program mode in OS2XL. It allows you to control the speed of sample playback via an envelope and/or with aftertouch. You have the option to set a 'base' playback speed from which the effect takes place: 44.1k, which is normal forwards playback at the standard sample rate. This is the default for standard program playback of samples. Or 0.0k, which starts the sample from fully stopped (like a turntable speeding up from standstill), and changes in accord with the envelope/aftertouch that is applied.


What i want to do is get it to play in reverse as is stated as possible in the 2XL manual here:

Set 0.0 base, tune to - 120, depth to -120, now play with ADSR envelope and aftertouch setting.

Have you ever gotten this feature to work yourself?

Because no matter what settings i use it does not work at all for me.

I just can't get it to play in reverse.

Also, what do you mean by setting tune to -120? Do you mean the sample tuning itself? And if so, why -120, when the tuning goes all the way to ±360…
