I've just spent a very frustrating couple of days trying to get the recommended(*) CF-SD card adapter work with the recommended CF-SD card media and despite trying multiple SD cards and MicroSD with SD adapters, nothing is working. Tried the lock/unlock(**) recommendation, tried formatting on the MPC, and transferring files after mounting on PC, then re-formatted on the MPC and tried to transfer over USB (I haven't tried formatting on my PC). Tried with various sizes of SD/MicroSD as well: 1GB, 2GB, 8GB, 32GB, 128GB (mostly SanDisk but also Kingston). Also tried at least 6 different SD-MicroSD adapters.
And by "not work" - I mean, it won't load programs on the SD card, giving me a file not found after loading maybe 50 samples out of 64 (the same program loads fine when loaded from a UDMA6 CF card), and also will show the Card Free=0.0MB approximately every 3-4 boots.
Tried two different CF-SD adapters, both the same kind mentioned in the video (I bought a second, intending to install it in HDM-10 with the recommended IDE/CF adapter). Nothing works. At $20-25 for the adapters, it seems more prudent at this point to try and track down a UDMA6 128GB CF card, as I've not had any issues with UDMA6 cards.
128GB UDMA6 CF cards seem to be getting rarer than hen's teeth. I'm about to order one from Amazon for $49
Given the variability, I'm not sure it makes sense to recommend these CF-SD adapters, unless of course, they work for most people and I'm just one of a handful of unlucky people.
