Howto Install JJ 4.15 via USB?

Hi , i just recieved my MPC1000Bk/16Mb/32mb CF today
wonder how do i install New JJ OS 4.15 via USB cable conected to my iBook ( dont have a CF card reader in my iBook) ?

1. open the load screen (mode + pad 2), hit usb

2. when the mpc shows in "my computer", open it up and copy the file to the flash card.

3. after the os file is on the card, unplug the usb from the mpc and go back to the load screen.

4. find the file on the card and load it like you would a sample/program

5. you should be good to go after that. you can delete the file from the card to give you back storage space.

also, ive read that you should format the card after installing the new os. in this case, put everything on your card somewhere in your computer and format the card.

i've tried to connect my iBook to MPC1000BK following the steps ,
but it doesnt mount on the desctop
maybe it only works on PC?
i am using OSX Tiger 10.4.8
any ideas?

ahh, i dont know the first thing about mac. sorry about that. you might want to check jj's website and/or the manual which was written by stan steez. im not sure if its in there or not.

thanks i have figured out what the problem was.
i have forgoten to insert the 32MB CF card ... silly of me ..
Now all is fine the NEW OS JJ 4.15 is installed fine!

As i am a total MPC beginner and making my very first MPC steps,
what should i read the JJ OS manual ONLY or could i use something from the
official printed manual for learning?
is there any Video tutorial abou the NEW OS yet?

first thing you should do is sit down and read the 1000 manual while looking at your mpc, but believe me, it's gonna seem foreign. don't worry if you don't understand some things - you will as you work with them.

worry about what you need to do first, then what you want to do. after you read the 1k manual, look at steez's work. a lot of the jenius os's features are fairly self explanatory, you just need experience.

thanks , i can't wait to start sampling some vinyl and drop my own samples into MPC to start makin beats to use with Ableton live later..
But i will try to be patient and just read the official MPC1000 manual
and than the Steez's JJ one .

i gotta agree with nym. its a lot different than a daw. not as much control on certain things and a little more manual. but it really is a lot more fun than a daw in my opinion. i suggest read everything you can about it. start with the original, the jj, and then check out some production tips on this site as well as the mpc and mpc unofficial forums. and in the words of a lot of people on this site...

practice practice practice and practice some more. you will have fun beating the hell out of the mpc
